Mitre Linen is to become part of catering supplies giant Nisbets following a takeover by the Bristol company.
Based in Merthyr Tydfil, Mitre has been established for more than 70 years and supplies a wide range of linen products to the hospitality industry, including bed linen, pillows, bathrobes, towelling and table linen.
Tim Carr, finance director at Nisbets, believes it represents a fantastic opportunity for both companies.
“This is a strategic acquisition which means we now have substantial linen offerings for our customers, that will complement Nisbets’ existing catering equipment product range. Mitre has a strong set of values and, like Nisbets, prides itself on giving great service to its loyal customers in a range of sectors, including hotels, universities, hospitals and laundry. We very much look forward to continuing to build Mitre Linen’s capability and offer in the future.”
The company employs around 95 people at its factory warehouse in the Welsh Valleys and supplies its products to more than 50 countries.
It already has an established catalogue and online business, along with a strong field sales team. It was granted a Royal Warrant in 1955.
