Craig Bancroft, managing director of luxury boutique Northcote, has revealed exclusively to BH that the team at the hotel would be ‘a really great set of brains for somebody to ultilise’, and the brand would happily consider consulting as a route of expansion.
In an interview with editor Zoe Monk, when asked about future plans, Bancroft said that while the brand would be likely to acquire another pub chain, there are no plans in the pipeline to create another hotel similar to Northcote.
The 26-bedroom hotel, which completed a two-year building project following a £8m investment last year, is operated by managing director Bancroft, together with chef patron Nigel Haworth and general manager Craig Jackson.
The business has gone from strength to strength since its launch more than 30 years ago and is now counted as one of the best boutique hotels in the UK.
Bancroft said that while Northcote won’t be looking to acquire another hotel, the team would happily consult with a growing brand or single operator on a new or existing project.
Bancroft says: “I think we might acquire another pub chain and merge it, but I’m sorry to say I think there can only be one Northcote. I think we would happily consult as a team, in fact, I’m surprised people don’t ring us more often.
“Having completed a two-year building project with an £8m investment and controlled everything and managed to keep the business running and keep things on budget, we would be a really great set of brains for somebody to ultilise.”
