Old Preston Post Office building to be reborn as boutique hotel after sale to Signature Living

One of Preston’s most iconic buildings has been sold to Signature Living, the group behind The Shankly Hotel in Liverpool.

The Old Post Office building in the city centre has stood empty for the last six years and is now set to be redeveloped in a multi-million pound project.

The Signature group will transform the Grade-II listed building into a ‘themed’ boutique, though no specific details have been released as yet.

Signature Living, which owns and operates 30 James Street and the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool, is bidding to make the hotel a real destination for Preston and bought the property for an undisclosed sum.

Founder of Signature Living Lawrence Kenright said: “We are incredibly excited to be working in Preston and delivering a luxury boutique hotel in the historic former Post Office building.

“Signature Living has a track record of developing high quality hotel accommodations and event venues and this will be no exception. Not only are we bringing much needed investment into the city centre; we will also be creating jobs for local people.
