Just a few months after being named one of the best hotels in Europe, the owners of The Tavistock House Hotel have decided to put their much-loved property up for sale.
The boutique hotel, which was awarded the title of Europe’s Best Small Hotel in the TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice Awards earlier this year, has gone on the market with a price tag of £825k.
The property has been owned by Brad and Gill Walker for the last three years, who have restored the historic building into a six-bedroom boutique, complete with lounge and dining room.
Built by the Duke of Bedford around 1820, the property is close to Tavistock town centre and also boasts a two or three-bedroom private flat.
The lounge and dining area can cater for 16, accompanied by a family size kitchen, which is domestically equipped.
Ed Jefferson at Colliers International said: “This is a very good level of business which if annualised presents an enviable level of turnover and profitability.”
He also said that there was scope to add further bedrooms to the hotel and that planning consent had already been obtained for four additional parking spaces.
Jefferson added: “Tavistock House Hotel is located close to the town centre on the Plymouth Road opposite Tavistock Tennis club and Meadowlands Park.
“The whole property has been lovingly restored offering individually designed rooms in sumptuous surroundings.
“There is also a large garden which leads to a garage building accessed from the road behind the property, this may have development potential subject to the necessary consents.”
