Owners of Yorkshire’s ‘first’ boutique celebrate a decade

The co-owners of The Wensleydale Heifer, dubbed Yorkshire’s first boutique hotel and restaurant, are celebrating a decade of success this year.

Lewis and David Moss have built up the reputation of the chic boutique over the past ten years, bringing a new hospitality experience to the area in the form of individually designed bedrooms and a fresh fish and seafood menu.

The Wensleydale Heifer has won more than 15 awards since the Moss duo took it over in 2005, including a Guinness World Record, Five AA Star and a place in The Michelin Guide 2015.

The duo took over the ownership of the restaurant with rooms in the summer of 2005 and began transforming the establishment into a real Yorkshire destination.

The team has since served more than 250,000 people, with head chef Craig Keenan committed to using the best local produce the area has to offer.

After the demand for more rooms in 2010, the duo had the opportunity to expand their offering and create more bedrooms buy purchasing the adjacent cottage. They transformed the destination into a 13-bedroom boutique hotel, with each room themed to a specially chosen design, including a Champagne Room, James Bond room and Chocolate Haven room.

David Moss, comments: “At the Heifer we are incredibly proud of our reputation as a fresh fish and seafood bar. It was always our goal to create the same fresh taste and strong flavours that you would expect to eat at some of the best seaside restaurants. It’s this level of commitment and skill that we bring to all our dishes and something that we are so keen to share with our guests."
