Plans lodged for 66-bed hotel in Stirling

Plans have been unveiled for a new 66-bedroom hotel at a prime spot in Stirling’s city centre.

Allan Water Properties is the company behind the proposal, applying for permission to transform the former Rainbow Slides site in Goosecroft Road into a new hospitality establishment for the city.

The company was granted permission two years ago for a mixed-use development comprising a hotel, student accommodation and shops.

However the plan was changed after Allan Water failed to get agreement from the university that there would be an uptake of rooms.

Last week, a new plan was submitted to Stirling Council for a three-storey hotel on the site of the former swimming pool.

Financial director, Jim Baxter explained that he has been already approached by a national hotel chain for the project, who is keen to make the move into Stirling.

Mr Baxter said that with its proximity to the city centre and the railway station, the site was ideal for a hotel. The building is earmarked for the ‘footprint’ of the old swimming baths site.
