Edinburgh First, a conferences, events and accommodation provider at the University of Edinburgh, has invested £1.6m in the refurbishment of its three-star, year-round hotel property, Masson House.
The renovation at the property, situated on the Pollock Halls estate in the city, has seen 29 bedrooms updated with a modern new design and new bathrooms added.
The refurbishment project was announced in January and planned to be rolled out in two phases with the first stage now being complete.
As part of the changes Masson House’s bistro has also benefitted from a menu overhaul, updated to champion local Scottish cuisine.
The catering team at Edinburgh First was recently awarded the Taste our Best accreditation by Visit Scotland.
Christine Kelly, head of occupancy at Edinburgh First, said: “Masson House has already seen some big changes with the construction of the bistro last year, so it’s positive to see further investment is going into the hotel.
“As well as ongoing improvements to the bistro menu, which will allow the public access to locally sourced meals prepared by our nationally accredited catering team, the renovation will mean that the hotel can be a contemporary location for both business people and leisure guests.
Masson House is open throughout the year and offers bed and breakfast style accommodation on the University campus.
