Robert De Niro tipped to enter UK boutique hotel market

Rumours are circulating that A-list Hollywood actor Robert De Niro is on the brink of opening his first boutique hotel in London.

Despite no concrete details confirmed as yet, talk on the rumour mill is that it could be similar to the Goodfellas star’s luxurious hotel in New York, The Greenwich.

The five-star retreat in Manhattan boasts a country house style and has been built to blend in with the classic look of the popular TriBeCa district the hotel is located in, with its hand-moulded brick walls creating a rustic look both in and out.

The bedrooms are fitted with Carrara marble and Moroccan tiles, while the bamboo spa was constructed by Japanese craftsmen.

It was London’s Evening Standard that published the story, and highlighted that The Academy Hotel in Gower Street, Bloomsbury is up for sale at £13m and could make a new celebrity haunt if given a little spruce up by De Niro.
