Salcombe hotelier seeks new opportunities in the market


A hotelier in Salcombe has revealed to Boutique Hotelier plans to acquire more hospitality businesses across Devon if the right opportunity presents itself.

Charles Erdleigh, currently general manager at South Sands Boutique Hotel in Salcombe, told BH that together with the hotel’s owner, the pair are on the lookout for new properties in Devon to grow their hospitality portfolio.

The businesses currently consists of one hotel, a pub with rooms and one cafe and Erdleigh says that while the owner has always had a keen interest in pubs, he is keen to expand in a number of ways.

The flagship South Sands Boutique Hotel in Salcombe is joined by The Anchor Inn – a gastrobpub with 10 bedrooms – Captain Morgans cafe in Salcombe, in the group.

Speaking about expansion plans, Erdleigh says: “We are always looking for new opportunities in the area – the owner has always had a keen interest in pubs and always believed that every village should have its own pub for the locals. Saying that, if we found other opportunities in the area we would definitely be interested in those.

“I am involved in all three properties and as a business we would like to grow and acquire more businesses and properties. South Sands will also be the flagship that needs all my attention, but I am lucky enough to have a very good team at the other two to keep things running smoothly,” he adds.
