A prominent hotel on Scotland’s whisky trail has been put up for sale as its owners seek to tackle a bigger challenge after building up their current venture to the top.
The West Loch Hotel in Tarbert, Argyll, is located on the main A83 Glasgow to Campbeltown road, and is the closest accommodation to the Isle of Islay ferry terminal, which takes thousands of whisky lovers to its shores every year.
Described as “a proper lifestyle business”, the location is expected to attract family proprietors looking for a base in the western Highlands.
The West Loch Hotel has eight bedrooms, as well as a bar, restaurant and lounge facilities.
The sale also includes a two-bedroom flat for resident owners.
Alistair Letham, a director in the UK hotels agency team at Colliers International, said: “The availability of the West Loch Hotel provides an outstanding opportunity for new family hoteliers, whether first timers or experienced, to acquire an established, well known and profitable business in one of Scotland’s most beautiful locations.
“The present owners purchased the West Loch in 2011 and have invested continuously in the property, adding greatly to its charm and comfort. They now wish to move on to a larger business, offering prospective purchasers the chance to acquire a hotel that has received a great deal of TLC to make it what it is today – a stylish business providing a very good standard of living.”
