A Grade-II listed boutique hotel and restaurant in Christchurch is to transform its bathrooms and build a new bar, thanks to a six-figure funding package from HSBC.
The Lord Bute in Highcliffe will use the loan to fit its bathrooms with new sanitary ware and tiling, recarpet a number of bedrooms and rebuild a new bar area, to help create space for new tables in its restaurant.
The hotel has a strong weddings trade and the owners Simon Box and Gary Payne hope the refurbishment will attract new bookings for 2017.
Simon Box said: “Though The Lord Bute is a traditional looking hotel and restaurant, we still need to modernise and keep our décor in-line with current trends.
“Over the last 15 years, we’ve completely transformed the look and feel of the building, but this is the first time we’ve turned to HSBC to help us with our renovation works.”
The Lord Bute consists of 13 bedrooms and was once home to Lord Bute, the Prime Minister of England from 1762-1763.
