After a smash and grab raid happened at her hotel in Essex, Sherri Singleton, owner of Mistley Thorn Hotel in Essex is calling on businesses to work together to stamp out crime in the area.
Thieves broke into the historic 11-bed coaching inn, located on High Street in Mistley, on Sunday at 5.20am and stole hundreds of pounds from the cash register.
Two men broke down an office door in the back and smashed open a cash drawer to take the money, that owner Singleton said was tip money earned from the weekend.
The suspects were caught on CCTV and after a overwhelming response so far from Facebook and Twitter with people sharing the hotel’s appeal, Singleton is asking anyone with information to come forward.
She also voiced her concern about a recent line of thefts and break ins in the area and wants to work with other businesses to deter any further crime.
Speaking to the Gazette News, Singleton said: “Police don’t patrol enough. It would help to have a night patrol in the area – you never see police around here anymore.
“I have a lot of support from the local business association who are trying to do something about crime in the area.
“If we could get every business to link up and use CCTV as a deterrent this could be a big help.”
