Smith Hotel Awards 2014 launch with new category

Boutique hotel experts, Mr & Mrs Smith have launched the Smith Hotel Awards 2014 with the addition of a new category, giving more hotels across the world the chance to be recognised.

The awards, only in their second year, have officially opened for votes and consumers are being invited to name their favourite boutiques in a range of different categories, covering the whole sector.

Last year, more than 47,000 votes were cast by savvy travellers from all around the globe eager to shout about their experiences and reward their best-loved establishments.

The categories this year are:
Best Hotel Pool • Sexiest Bedroom in the World • Best-Dressed Hotel
Hottest Hotel Bar • Best Spa Hotel • Best Hotel Restaurant • Best for Families
The Eco Award • Best Budget Boutique Hotel • Above and Beyond
Best Newcomer • Best Smith Hotel 2014

The nominations are now open to the public, meaning now is the time to drum up support and encourage your guests to put your name forward.

Once the nominations have been cast, an all-star top 20 shortlist for each category will be created especially by Mr & Mrs Smith insiders.

The one exception is Best Smith Hotel 2014, which is open to every hotel in Smith’s collection of more than 950 hotels worldwide.
The public voting closes on 30 September and then the 10 hotels with the most votes in each category will go on to be judged by a specialist industry panel, who will ultimately decide on the overall winners.

This year the judges include interior designer IIse Crawford and restaurateur Marcus Wareing.

The winners will be announced on November 6th at a glittering ceremony at Bankside Vaults.

James Lohan, founder of Mr & Mrs Smith says: “The question I’m asked more than any other is which is my favourite Smith hotel stay? When we launched the awards last year we wanted to throw that question out to our members and the public. But things move fast on the boutique hotel scene, so the awards are back, with the same premise: where in the world is the best boutique hotel?”
