Southbourne boutique scoops Small Hotel of the Year title


Cliff House Hotel in Southbourne, Bournemouth beat off stiff competition to be named Small Hotel of the Year at the 2016 Bournemouth Tourism Awards.

The 14-bedroom boutique was crowned the winner at the 10th annual awards, held at Purbeck Hall at the BIC and presented by Sky TV’s Jayne Secker.

Cliff House Hotel beat the likes of The Balincourt, The Chocolate Boutique Hotel, The Green House Hotel and Urban Beach Hotel to be awarded the top prize, just 20 months after opening its doors for the first time.

Andrew Gosling, owner of Cliff House Hotel said: “This award celebrates the achievements and dedication of the team here at Cliff House Hotel. We’re delighted to be starting the season with such a fantastic win.”

Des Simmons, chairman of Bournemouth’s Tourism Awards and MD of Bournecoast said: “This year’s event was a remarkable achievement; we had the most entries and nominations in the 10 years’ history of the awards.”

Small Hotel of the Year was one of 16 awards presented at the ceremony, including four new categories.

Alongside its 14 bedrooms, Cliff House Hotel is home to its vibrant and popular bar, Bar 13.
