St James’s Hotel Group has announced that it is to begin work on the creation of a new 117-bedroom boutique hotel in Bath, which will operate under a franchise with InterContinental Hotels when it opens in spring 2017.
The new hotel will become Hotel Indigo Bath and will be created on the site of Pratt’s & Halcyon hotels in the area.
It’s being built through a comprehensive refurbishment of a number of Grade-I listed Georgian buildings in South Parade, including Pratt’s Hotel, The Halcyon and a neighbouring property.
Pratt’s Hotel will be temporarily closed from Monday 4 January and The Halcyon from the end of January next year for the refurbishment.
Pratt’s Hotel was a part of a portfolio of Forestdale hotels acquired by St James’s in 2014. The Halcyon was acquired from Giles Thomas.
Shaun Robinson, managing director of St James’s, commented: “It is good to be starting on site after many months of planning. This is such a good opportunity to create an outstanding boutique hotel right in the heart of Bath, one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, and Hotel Indigo is just the right brand.”
