The Talbot Hotel in Malton has unveiled its latest venture as part of a multi-million pound investment into the property.
York House is a new events venue on site at the Yorkshire boutique, with a 300-year-old building having now been restored after standing derelict for 20 years.
The new space still boasts its original oak flooring and oak staircase and is bidding to become the ‘go-to’ venue for weddings and events in the market town.
General manager David Macdonald says that the venue will help the hotel cater for larger weddings of up to 150 guests.
He says: “A recent survey showed that over 75% of weddings now have 100 guests plus and the combined hotel facilities allow us to now say ‘yes’ to larger events.”
York House also unveiled its new semi-permanent marquee at the launch party in April, which saw the opening night raise over £1,400 for chosen charity, The Encephalitis Society.
The Talbot estate has further plans for improvement, as part of a multi-million pound investment in Malton, including the construction of a permanent banqueting hall in the space between the Talbot Hotel and York House.
Eight new hotel bedrooms on the first and second floors of York House will follow.
