Tewkesbury Park completes stage 1 of ambitious £2.5m refurb

The privately-owned Tewkesbury Park hotel in Gloucestershire has announced the completion of the first phase of its extensive £2.5m refurbishment programme.

Transforming all its 85 bedrooms, swimming pool and changing facilities, stage one of the hotel’s makeover is being spearheaded by Tewkesbury Park’s new owners the McIntosh family, who took over the hotel in 2014.

Gloucester-based interior design company ADS Design was tasked with creating the new look for each of the hotel’s bedrooms, upgrading 30 of the rooms to executive status complete with smart TVs, Hypnos beds and Grohe showers as well as Nespresso coffee machines.

The hotel’s pool and leisure complex has also received a major overhaul, including the installation of underfloor heating in the changing rooms, a new steam room and an outdoor hot tub.

The family now plan to start work transforming the rest of the hotel.

Tewkesbury Park also hopes to create nine ‘superior’ rooms – including two bridal suites – in a bid to further increase its weddings custom.

This work is expected to be completed by the autumn, before the spotlight turns to the hotel’s reception area, cocktail bar and event rooms, which will then be next for a refurbishment.

“We’re thrilled with the results of this major improvements programme, which has created significantly more comfortable and contemporary facilities for our guests,” said Claire White, director of Tewkesbury Park.

“Very little money had been spent on the hotel before we acquired it, so there was a need for some significant investment in renovation and refurbishment. We want to take the hotel into a fresh new era and we’re confident that Tewkesbury Park now offers guests some of the finest facilities in the county.”
