Tewkesbury Park, which is nearing the end of its £4m renovation project, has announced the appointment of new executive chef Anuj Thakur.
The hotel, which is currently in the process of adding new nine luxury suites, two meeting rooms, an orangery and a cocktail lounge, has recruited Thakur from Dartington Hall, a Grade-II hotel in Devon, where he achieved 2 AA Rosettes.
Thakur has a career spanning 15 years since he first started out in the industry at one of India’s top old colonial hotels, The Oberoi Cecil Hotel Shimla.
His experience in the UK has seen him work at Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel, Frimley Hall Hotel and Spa and Macdonald Berystede Hotel and Spa.
In 2013, Thakur moved to the Torquay Imperial Hotel and Spa, which saw him take the reins in his first position as executive head chef.
In his new role, he will oversee the entire hotel’s food & beverage outlets including the main Garden restaurant, and the health club restaurant, Greens, plus the new Orangery.
He will also be responsible for the development of menus for the hotel’s conference and meeting business, working closely with the F&B manager, to implement strategies, objectives and financial analysis of all F&B operations.
Besides the new additions at Tewkesbury Park, a complete refurbishment is being carried out to all 85 bedrooms, and work to the main reception area is scheduled to be completed in late spring.
Two new spa rooms will also be finished early summer.
