The Gainsborough Bath Spa, the first UK classic hotel offering from YTL Hotels, has announced that it will open early next year.
The new 99-bedroom hotel will be made up of three Grade-II listed Georgian buildings and will be the only hotel in the UK to have direct access to natural thermal waters.
YTL Hotels is launching The Gainsborough Bath Spa as its first venture into the UK market, following on from the group’s successes with Pangkor Laut Resort and The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
The group has redeveloped the site in Bath, with all three buildings undergoing extensive refurbishment to bring each one into line with the brand’s vision for the hotel to become one of the most prestigious destinations in the city.
The property was originally built as the United Hospital in 1824, until it closed in 1932 and then became home to Bath College until 2005.
The interiors have been designed by Champalimaud Design, the design firm behind the stylish The Carlyle in New York and The Dorchester in London.
The hotel will also feature a variety of meetings and conferences facilities, as well as a private dining room fit for up to 14 people.
The restaurant will be a predominantly English-style menu, infused with Asian influences and will aim to appeal to both hotel guests and local residents.
