The Goring is gearing up for the festive season with the launch of its glamorous new winter watering hole, The Cresta Bar, inspired by the opulence and history of St Moritz in the snow.
Named after the famously hazardous Cresta run and the fact that founders of the hotel, Otto Goring and his son were huge fans of St Moritz in the winters of 1920s and 30s, The Cresta Bar at The Goring will be a decadent place to hideaway when the weather gets colder.
The Cresta Bar has been created in collaboration with the Kulm Hotel St Moritz, home to the sunny bar, the Cresta Run’s unofficial clubroom, where riders come before and after their descent.
The new Cresta Bar at The Goring will be revealed in December on the veranda overlooking the hotel’s private garden.
A collection of archive photos from the Kulm Hotel’s Sunny Bar and its famous wall of photos will take centre a stage at new bar, while props and décor will also include an assortment of the paraphernalia used to survive this treacherous icy corkscrew.
There will also be new cocktails on offer, thrills and spills, wipe out and the shuttlecock will be some of the new drinks on offer, created especially for The Cresta Bar at The Goring by the Kulm’s master sommelier, Benjamin Wolf.
As Jeremy Goring says, “If you want to do the Cresta Run this winter, but do not have time or a deathwish, The Cresta Bar at The Goring is where you need to be.”
