A new Pig Hotel was confirmed earlier this year, and will be the fifth addition to the litter when it opens in April.

The boutique hotel in Otter Valley near Honiton, Devon will join properties in Brockenhurst, Southampton, Bath and Studland in Robin Hutson’s hugely successful Home Grown Hotels portfolio.

Combe House Devon will be The Pig’s new home and work is well underway to transform the property, increasing the number of bedrooms from 20 to 33.

The intention is to convert the stable yard and other under-utilised buildings to make space for the 13 new bedrooms.

The loft of the main house will be transformed into spacious rafter bedrooms and the stable block too, retaining much of the original features.

Rooms and suites will be designed with their usual ‘piggy panache’ courtesy of Judy Hutson, wife of founder and CEO of Home Grown Hotels Robin Hutson.

When it opens it will be the biggest of all The Pigs and its restaurant will not be located in a conservatory like all the other hotels in the group.

Speaking about the acquisition, CEO of Home Grown Hotels Robin Hutson said: “We’re really over the moon to acquire Combe House Devon, it’s a fantastic property in a beautiful setting just a mile west of Honiton in the heart of the stunning Otter Valley, and also close to Exeter and the south west coast.

“It will sit well within the footprint of our other five locations. So far our other hotels have had a great first half of this year, demand has been very high for the existing properties and our guests want more Pigs, in more locations so we are thrilled to be adding a very special place in such a wonderful location – we know our clientele will love The Pig-at Combe.”
