Why we like it: With 23 individually designed bedrooms, each one oozes a calm character like that out of a Victorian fairytale complete with freestanding baths and the brand’s signature ‘larders’. Not content with an indoor option, guests can also book into one of two of the outside bedrooms, which both overlook the walled garden. The hotel’s surroundings include a well-populated kitchen garden, nurtured by head kitchen gardener Jo Macina,

The Summer House, suitable for private dining events and The Shepherd’s Hut on the lawn, a cosy duo of shacks dedicated to massage and other spa treatments. The hotel promises to source all food locally from within a 25-mile radius, and true to The Pig’s form, dishes are innovative and a real talking point.

The private dining space has the option to seat 12 and comes complete with its own chef, special menu, pizza over and outdoor bar. It even offers guests their own ice cream trolley with homemade flavours straight from the garden.

Everything has been considered, right down to the smallest detail and back in the main house, the bar’s floor is made from old railway sleepers to complement the snug wood burner, serving up a really relaxed vibe.

Robin Hutson, CEO of Home Grown Hotels said: “We have been working with this great Victorian building embracing its quirks and characteristics. We’ve made the most of every old fireplace and strangely shaped window always with the stunning sea views in mind.”
