Former head housekeeper, Angela Ellis, has been appointed as general manager at The Zetter Hotel and The Zetter Townhouse, London.
Although she has a wealth of industry experience, this is Ellis’s first position as general manager. She began her career as room attendant at Grosvenor House in 1991, where she worked for six years, quickly progressing through the ranks before moving on to the Sloane Club as assistant head housekeeper.
Her first role as head of housekeeping was at Dorset Square, a Firmdale Hotel, where she enjoyed another six successful years before taking on a position at Great Fosters country house in Surrey. Ellis joined The Zetter as head housekeeper in 2009, and became deputy general manager in 2015. She accepted the general manager job this August.
The group is renowned for nurturing its staff and promoting from within. “We are delighted that such a significant position has been filled by our home-grown talent,” says Michael Benyan, the company’s director. “It’s not often that you see someone move from housekeeping to a general manager position but we believe with the right encouragement and support, broad experience can be a great advantage. Angela works incredibly hard and we are extremely proud of her achievements.”
