Colliers International has achieved its third major hotel sale in the New Forest three years, highlighting the demand for properties in the area.
The latest acquisition has seen the sale of South Lawn Hotel to the owner of the East Close Hotel in Hinton, Tim Wedgwood for £1.25m. Wedgwood now plans to invest in a major refurbishment programme at the property.
This comes after Colliers recently secured buyers for Sway Manor and Crown at Lyndhurst.
Originally a country house, South Lawn has been enlarged over the years and now offers 24 bedrooms and a purpose-built function suite.
Simon Wells from Colliers International said the New Forest remained a top tourist destination with great links from London.
The New Forest District Council statistics show that the forest is enjoyed by millions of people every year, the majority of visits (13.5 million) are by day trip visitors, including those who live within the forest, but almost 1 million visits include an overnight stay (3 million nights) and the majority of those are by UK residents.
Tourism creates over 7980 jobs in the forest and generates nearly £400 million in tourism expenditure.
