The winners of the Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Awards were announced last night, with UK establishments Dormy House, Lime Wood and Ham Yard Hotel among the winners.
The Smith Hotel Awards, now in their second year, recognised the best boutique hotels in the world in a range of categories including Sexiest Bedroom in the World, Best Hotel Restaurant and the coveted title of Best Smith Hotel 2014.
More than 20,000 members of the public cast their vote for their favourite picks throughout September before a shortlist was drawn up and the winners decided upon by a panel of three specialist judges in each category, including chef Marcus Wareing, presenter Anna Richardson and writer Mariella Frostup.
The winners were awarded in front of an audience of press, hoteliers and famous faces at the ceremony at Bankside Vaults in London on the evening of November 6th.
Hartnett, Holder & Co at Lime Wood scooped the award for Best Hotel Restaurant, while the House Spa at Dormy House won the title of Best Spa Hotel. The award for Best Newcomer was given to Ham Yard Hotel in London, one of the most talked about new openings of the year from Tim and Kit Kemp.
“When we started Smith in 2003, we set out to find the very best boutique hotels in the UK, said, James Lohan, co-founder, Mr & Mrs Smith. “Over the last 11 years, we’ve taken that mission all over the world, so this list of 2014 award-winners really does represent the best of the best on the global hotel scene. Choosing from such incredible hotels is a tough job, of course, which is why we asked the public to help, and thanks to them and our panel of specialist judges, we think we’ve arrived at the ultimate hotlist.”
