Top sommelier expands expertise across the New Forest

The team at New Forest hotels, The Montagu Arms and Careys Manor Hotel and SenSpa, has announced the promotion of David Kubler to group sommelier working across both establishments.

Joining The Montagu Arms in 2012, David will now have the task of maintaining the high quality wine experience at both the hotels’ restaurants, including The Manor, the SenSpa’s Thai Zen Garden, and supporting the restaurant manager at Careys Manor’s Parisian bistro, Le Blaireau.

David draws on a wealth of experience, having previously worked as a sommelier at Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck and The Mandarin Grill & Bar in Hong Kong. He will now run special events for wine enthusiasts at both hotels, including Wine of the Month samplings and wine tasting sessions.

James Hiley-Jones, operations director at the Montagu Arms Hotel and Careys Manor Hotel said: “David is and has been an invaluable member of our team since joining. His outstanding knowledge of wines from around the world and his ability to share and express his experience with both the guests and the staff alike is hugely respected within the hotel and local area. Drawing on his previous employment in such prestigious establishments, David has been able to further enhance the dining experience at our Michelin starred restaurant, The Terrace.

“With his move to Group Sommelier, he will now be able to share his expert abilities, skills, knowledge and experience with our sister hotel and the team involved.”
