At this time of year hoteliers are rushed off their feet, with back to back bookings for Christmas parties. Guests want an experience to remember as they celebrate and let their hair down. Hoteliers on the other hand are running round like headless chickens behind the scenes pulling their hair out, as they realise they have missed some crucial detail about their booking, deliveries have been delayed and stock is running low much too quickly… Although it does not have to be like that.
Monica Or, founder of Star Quality Hospitality Consultancy has put together some quick festive tips on how to create a Christmas to remember for your guests:
Clear communication will ensure the smooth running of your customers’ celebrations – Function sheets, special requests, dietary requirements should all be known and everything in place prior to your guests arriving.
Hire help if you need to, it is a busy time of year – ensure your temporary staff understand the ethos of your business and are fully briefed together with your permanent staff.
Research a special gift for your guests and surprise them, personalise it taking in to account their preferences – it is the time for giving.
Involve everyone – teamwork is crucial.
Smile – spread some Christmas cheer, it is infectious. Get in the festive mood before your guests arrive so they can join in the fun.
Tipple – check your supplier orders and ensure there is enough for everyone, there is nothing worse than running dry.
Meet – each and every one of your guests. Remember the true meaning of being hospitable is to give a warm welcome.
Anticipate – what else does your guest need?
