A trendy pub with rooms is set to benefit from an extended bar, restaurant and new bedrooms, after a £750k project was approved by councillors.
The Angels Hotel in Uddingston will now begin work on a two-storey side extension on its ground floor to accommodate a larger bar and restaurant space, while on the second floor two new bedrooms will be added.
Despite the project coming up against opposition from neighbours concerned about the noise, councillors gave owners of The Angels Hotel, Lisini Pub Company, the green light to begin the works.
According to the group, which consists of a portfolio of wedding venues, pubs, restaurants and three boutique hotels, the proposal has been more than a year in the making and when complete will more than 60 extra covers in the restaurant and 38 in the bar.
Speaking to the Scottish Daily Record, Lisini’s marketing and communications director Siobhan Edwards said: “It is a difficult building to transform, with it being built in 1906, it has its challenges. However, we were very keen to get this one right on point.
“We have a lot of requests for private parties and hopefully this extension will be able to give us the opportunity to accommodate more of these requests. This is a massive refurbishment and we think the people of Uddingston deserve somewhere to visit for all the family.
