TV fame sees bookings at boutique B&B soar

Kaywana Hall, a luxury B&B situated in Kingswear, has seen a huge rise in bookings since appearing on Channel 4’s Homes by the Sea.

The three-bedroom bed and breakfast in Devon first appeared on the show presented by Charlie Luxton in November 2014, and since then has enjoyed further success when the programme was repeated several times on More 4.

Co-owner Tony Pithers has seen a huge surge in visitors to the B&B’s website, which have increased from around 150 per day to more than 5,000 since the show first aired last year.

Pithers is also expecting to run at around 95% occupancy this season, and is already fully booked until September.

He says: “I was amazed at the reaction to the programme and we were very lucky that Charlie (the presenter) picked us as one of his favourites so our segment was repeated in the last episode.”

The property is constantly rated ‘excellent’ on TripAdvisor and is part of an emerging breed of B&Bs that aim to offer five-star facilities and services but without an on-site restaurant.

The addition of another bedroom is scheduled for 2016 and Pithers is confident that the power of TV will continue to boost bookings at the property.
