The family-owned Italian group Starhotels has purchased two historic and popular boutique hotel properties in London.

The Gore and The Pelham in London’s South Kensington were sold for a reported (approximately) £43 million.

The purchase of the 50-room Gore Hotel and the 51-room Pelham Hotel mark the Italian company’s first venture into the UK hotel industry.

The group owns 22 hotels with 3,690 rooms between them in Italy, Paris and New York.

The former owners of the Pelham Hotel and The Gore Hotel acquired them from Firmdale Hotels.

The Gore Hotel, awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2014, is a quintessentially British hotel, offering luxury, privacy and character between Hyde Park and the Albert Hall.

It has been described by the media as the most-photographed, romantic hotel in London.

The Pelham is made up of three town houses knocked together and is still decorated and furnished very much in the style of Ferndale’s Kit Kemp.
