Visit Britain puts spotlight on Yorkshire in new ad campaign

National tourism agency Visit Britain has launched a new ad campaign at Heathrow Airport aimed at attracting visitors to Yorkshire before and after the Tour de France.

A series of images will be displayed on digital screens at the UK’s largest airport gateway from this week.  They form part of a £1m campaign to highlight the county’s countryside, as well as heritage and retail destinations.

Leeds and York are the two most visited cities in the region and 2013 figures show tourism spend up almost 12% on the previous year.

Visitors spend an average of 8.6 nights in the region, according to the agency.
