Wales boutique snapped up by Manchester hospitality company

A Manchester-based hospitality company has purchased a 15-bedroom boutique hotel and events venue near Mold in North Wales.

Elle R Leisure, the company behind Dukes 92 in Castlefield, a popular bar and grill, and the Albert’s restaurants, has bought the Grade-II listed Soughton Hall for an undisclosed sum.

Soughton Hall has an extensive history, being built in 1764 as a bishop’s palace and it then became a boutique hotel and wedding venue in 1987 after it was acquired by the Rodenhurst family.

Elle R Leisure now plans to continue to operate the historic venue and retain all of the current staff at Soughton Hall and its restaurant and bar, The Stables.

James Ramsbottom, managing director of Elle R Leisure said that the company will now work to build up the wedding and corporate business from the local area.

He said: “This is a very exciting acquisition and adds another hotel to our growing portfolio to serve both the local market and also attract customers from Cheshire, Liverpool and Manchester.

“Soughton Hall is a stunning property that we feel has a lot of potential. We will be keeping Soughton Hall and The Stables’ existing staff, and our intention is to build up the wedding and corporate business with a view to creating more jobs for local people.”
