A boutique hotel in the West Country has been named in a list of the top 25 best destinations for breakfast.
Esquire magazine highlighted Woodlands Country House’s ‘Coldstream’ eggs, which are baked in rich Cornish cream with flaked kippers, as being one of the country’s top breakfasts.
The Padstow-based property has been owned by Hugo Woolley and his wife Pippa for almost 13 years after the couple moved from the South East.
Hugo has a passion for breakfast and has published several recipe books in addition to selling his own home-made cereals, which he began to sell following requests from guests. He now counts London-based Fortnum & Mason among his clientele.
Speaking to The Western Morning News, Mr Woolley said: “I’m very pleased to hear that we’re on the list – it’s absolutely delightful. It’s going to be good for the business and good for breakfast which is a very important meal.
“Breakfast is essential. It’s a vital meal. Every other meal is superfluous but you really cannot miss breakfast. It kick-starts the metabolism and it gets you going for the day.”
Having built up a reputation for his breakfasts, Mr Woolley does a breakfast demo at the Padstow Christmas Festival every year.
Just 15 minute walk from Padstow Harbour, the award-winning Woodlands Country House stands in a rural setting with farmland views, sweeping down to Trevone Bay and the sea.
