A Yorkshire B&B has been named the world’s number one B&B at the 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
The owners at Millgate B&B in Masham were celebrating last night after being voted into the top spot by visitors to their establishments from all over the globe who posted glowing reviews on the travel site.
With just three bedrooms available to let at the Grade-II listed B&B, Millgate promises guests ‘luxurious beds, high-quality bedding and award-winning breakfasts cooked to order and served with freshly baked bread.’
The UK proved it is still king when it comes to B&Bs, with the TripAdvisor results showing that this country is home to both the best and second best B&Bs in the world. The UK also boasts ten of the world’s top 25 – more than any other destination.
While first place went to Millgate B&B, Shola Coach House in Portrush, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, placed number two on the world list.
Sue Burrell, co-owner of Millgate B&B, said: “To be named the best B&B in the world is an incredible feeling, and shows that our approach to collecting guest reviews is paying dividends.”
Lawton Court Hotel in Llandudno was named the world’s best in the bargain hotel category; the Welsh seaside town is now home to eight award-winning hotels, with only London and Blackpool ahead in the ranks.
The UK’s top performer was the Haymarket Hotel, which scooped first prize in the Top Hotels category. It was also awarded seventh in Europe and 20th in the world.
“These awards recognise the finest hotels across the globe, according to those that really matter – the guests themselves. This year is particularly good news for the UK hotel industry, with the UK home to more of the world’s best rated properties than any other country,” commented James Kay, TripAdvisor spokesperson.
