Voted as 2014’s ‘Large Hotel of the Year’, The Coniston Hotel & Country Estate has gone one step further to build on its success with the launch of its new 16,500 sqft spa.
The Coniston Spa has now opened after nine months of development in a bid to attract thousands of extra visitors to the Yorkshire Dales.
Directly overlooking the hotel’s 24 acre lake, the new spa’s facilities include a 15m indoor pool, thermal suite, gym, dance studio, eight treatment rooms, relaxation area and an outdoor pool and terrace.
The Spa also offers members and guests a dining area called Nourish, which will serve a special menu throughout the day created in consultation with celebrity author, dietician and naturopath Elizabeth Peyton-Jones.
Although the Spa has just opened, membership has been available for a few months and already boasts more than 200 members.
Leading the team at the new Coniston Spa is general manager Sam Wilson, who has a wealth of experience including as spa director for the five-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and as a spa manager on some of the world’s leading cruise ships.
The Coniston Hotel, Country Estate and Spa is owned by Michael and Ethne Bannister and their family, and run under the direction of Hotel Director Louise Bolton.
“We are delighted to open The Coniston Spa today, the first day of National Spa Week”, said Mr Bannister. “Taking The Coniston from a small hotel and farm shop to one of the north of England’s top country resorts has been a labour of love, and to a large extent the Spa is the piece that completes the jigsaw for our guests, local residents and dedicated staff”.
“We look forward to welcoming literally thousands of new visitors to the Spa and continuing to promote the Dales tourism product locally, nationally and internationally in the years ahead”, he said.
