A hotel in the Yorkshire Dales has beaten off stiff competition to be crowed the Best Accommodation at the inaugural Skipton Business Awards 2017.
Beck Hall Hotel & Bistro in Malham fought off competition from finalists The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa and Unicorn Bed & Breakfast to be crowned category winner at the awards ceremony held last week.
The 19-room hotel, owned by husband and wife duo Louise and Andrew Macbeth, was recognised by the judges for its ‘fairytale location, whimsical rooms and incredible hospitality in which each employee has been recruited for their ability to go above and beyond’.
Nearly 90 businesses entered the awards, which was organised by the Skipton Chamber of Trade & Commerce to recognise the brightest stars of the local business community.
The shortlist and winners were chosen by judges Victoria Robertshaw of Keelham Farm Shop; Alison Davies of Skipton Building Society; Helen Clarke of Barclays Bank; Debi Hawkins of Cancer Support Yorkshire and Matt Cornish of Tyro Training.
Owner Andrew Macbeth said: “As we’ve grown the business, transforming it from a rundown B&B with just a few staff to a hotel and restaurant employing 19 people today, we’ve kept true to our service values. We realised we wouldn’t always be the ones to greet the guests, and so it was important to us that every team member would do us proud – which they do every day,” he added.
