Lake District hotel, Lodore Falls, is seeing the results of its spa and restaurant relaunch after a rise in the number of guests choosing to stay at the property for a longer spell of time.

The 87-bedroom hotel, part of the Lake District Hotels group, unveiled its new Falls Spa in December, following the launch of new pan-Asian restaurant, Mizu and new spa suites as part of a £10m renovation project at the hotel.

Since 2017 Lodore Falls has been undergoing a redevelopment, with its ground floor areas given a makeover, as well as new bedrooms and a Brasserie introduced.

Speaking to Boutique Hotelier, Dani Hope says: “Now we receive hotel reservations of more than four days stay on a more regular basis and it just prove that today’s guests are looking for a mixture of experiences.

“Trade within the Lake District is very competitive, but we have always maintained an upward growth.”

Hope says that the new Mizu restaurant, headed up by chef Kasun Jayasooriya, has been well received by both locals and visitors to the area and brought a boost to the hotel’s dining trade.

Food and beverage now represents almost 45% of turnover.

Accommodation makes up approximately 45% with spa accounting for 10%.

“Menus were prepared and tested over several months and finally approved by the Directors and the group’s executive chef prior to opening,” adds Hope. “Once the doors opened to Mizu it was a pleasant surprise to see how enthusiastic local people and visitors to the Lake District took to this new dining concept not seen anywhere in the area before.”

In the summer, average occupancy at Lodore Falls now stands at 85% with Hope expecting a ‘significant increase’ in occupancy during the winter months now with the new spa.

Lake District Hotels Group comprises six hotels in the Lake District, including Inn on the square, Borrowdale Hotel and Kings Arms Hotel in Keswick.
