A hotel in Northumberland has reopened following a £3m refurbishment to transform the venue into a destination for eating, drinking and overnight accommodation.

Beadnell Towers was acquired by David Wilson in October 2016, who has since invested £3m into converting the 10-bedroom hotel into an 18-bedroom boutique, complete with new restaurant, bar and terrace.

The 18-month project has seen the bedrooms given a complete overhaul and a new open kitchen and bar area introduced, featuring a British-inspired menu.

The relaunched Beadnell Towers has been designed by Matt Hulme of Dynargh Design, whose previous work includes a number of Hotel du Vin properties and the Cookie Jar in Alnwick.

The 100-seat open plan restaurant, bar and kitchen is headed up by chef Tong McDermott and will operate alongside the hotel’s Reading Room lounge.

The intention is now for the property to appeal to the family market, with six of the bedrooms available to be booked together as family suites.

Denis Frucot was appointed general manager 12 months ago, and comes with a wealth of experience at the likes of Macdonald Linden Hall in Morpeth, Seckford Hall at Woodbridge in Suffolk, and Hoste at Bunham Market in Norfolk, after spending 16 years with Hotel du Vin and Malmaison.

Speaking to Visit Northumberland, Frucot added: “We are delighted it looks so stunning – everyone we’ve shown around so far has been absolutely blown away by the design and the beautiful fixtures and fittings.  Many people can remember what it looked like before, so it’s great that these changes have been so warmly welcomed.  I am absolutely delighted to be involved in this wonderful venture.  The hotel has been renovated to such a high standard, with 18 unique rooms, incorporating many of the original features of the building, but with added inspirational elements.”
