Following the InterContinental Hotels Group’s recent decision to swap out travel-size toiletries in their establishments for more sustainable options by 2021, Out of Eden, a core supplier to large hotel chains all the way to boutique B&Bs, has seen a rise in sales of its refillable collections.
For over 20 years refillable toiletries and cleaning products have remained a popular product in Kirkby Stephen-based Out of Eden’s extensive range, however it’s only recently, following debates about the growing plastic problem, that they have seen sales begin to soar.
In 2019, Out of Eden added 2 new exclusive refillable toiletry collections to their ever-growing ranges, offering guests the option to save on plastic and pennies while still opting for a greener alternative. Vegan formulas, natural ingredients and plastic-saving packaging are just some of the remarkable features of these brand-new ranges.
Founder Ian Hartley said: “It is essential that accommodation providers can effortlessly swap out mini toiletries for more sustainable alternatives, while maintaining that so-desired element of luxury for their guests. With 5 refillable collections and an impressive range of dispensers to choose from, we have carefully selected and created ranges to suit every establishment.”
Amongst the new toiletry collections is the new and improved bestselling Eden range, now available in 300ml bottles with accompanying 5 litre bulk refills, allowing users to refill the original bottle or a dispenser over 15 times, and the empty 5 litre container can then be recycled.
Refillable toiletries have very quickly become a staple amenity in many hotelier’s guest bathrooms, with 300ml and 480ml bottles using up to 60% less plastic than conventional mini toiletries, and consumer demand for greener toiletries shows no signs of slowing down.
In the meantime, while establishments begin the lengthy process of swapping over to refills, Out of Eden also announced their partnership with Maidenhead-based charity CleanConscience earlier this year, who efficiently reuse and repurpose mini toiletries.
Previously limited to London-based hotels, Out of Eden have ensured all accommodation providers can reap the benefits of CleanConscience’s incredible scheme, with one simple sign-up fee.
Out of Eden is also a sponsor of this year’s Boutique Hotelier Personal Service Star Awards.
