Signature Living, the Liverpool based hotel operator and developer, has confirmed that it will open the doors to the new football-themed Dixie Dean hotel in Liverpool this July after a £10m transformation.

The operator, which has a portfolio of 10 hotels including 30 James Street and the Shankly Hotel, will unveil phase one of the project on July 12 with the launch of the No.9 restaurant and bar.

The 100-bedroom boutique hotel has been built in tribute to Everton FC and England football legend Dixie Dean and is situated on Victoria Street overlooking Signature Living’s flagship hotel The Shankly.

The project is a joint venture between Lawrence and Katie Kenwright’s Signature Living Hotel Group and the family of Dixie Dean; including his daughter Barbara Dean and granddaughter Melanie Prentice.

The Dixie Dean’s No.9 restaurant will be able to accommodate 160 diners and is named after the shirt Dean wore whilst at Everton.

Vibrant colours – including Everton FC Royal and aqua blue – feature throughout the interior with upholstered chairs, sofas and fabrics.

Images and memorabilia from the footballer combine with subtle design cues in tribute to the life and career of Dixie Dean.

Signature Living chairman Lawrence Kenwright said: “I am thrilled and delighted that we will get to open the doors to the Dixie Dean on the 12th July.

“Our goal was always to build two iconic hotels that would represent the two greatest football teams in English football and to leave a lasting legacy to Everton and Liverpool football clubs.”

Signature Living operates four football themed hotels including The Shankly Liverpool, The Shankly Preston, the soon-to-open Dixie Dean hotel and the George Best hotel in Belfast due to open later this year.

Last month, the hotel developer and operator put 30 James Street and the Shankly Hotel up for sale for £57m, to allow the group to further invest in its £150m expansion plan, which will see six hotels open across the UK by the end of this year
