16th century boutique hotel in Cheshire changes hands


Old Hall Hotel, a 16th century property in Frodsham, Cheshire, has been sold.

The 26-bedroom boutique hotel, which has been owned by local businessman Mark Winfield for over 40 years, occupies a prominent high street location in Frodsham.

The buyer is 16 Hospitality Group, which adds Old Hall Hotel to its growing portfolio of hospitality venues in North Wales and the North West of England.

Neil Thomson, who is an associate director at the company that helped to broker the sale, Colliers International, said: “The sale of The Old Hall Hotel reflects a continued appetite for quality hotel assets by both local and regional operators. In many cases these operators are being financially supported by banks that are keen to fund profitable and established businesses in hospitality and leisure sector.

“This transaction epitomises a strong year for Colliers International’s Hotels Agency team, who have seen an increase in business transactions through 2018.”
