£50m Buxton Crescent hotel project to be launched in 2020 under new health spa brand

With the multi-million pound redevelopment of Buxton Crescent well underway, it’s been announced that the new hotel will be launched under new brand Ensana Health Spa Hotels in 2020.

Plans were revealed in December 2015 for the transformation of the Grade-I historic building into a new hotel and spa at a cost of £50m, to be operated by Hungarian operator Danubius Hotel Group.

Now it’s emerged that the five-star hotel will fall under the breakaway brand Ensana Health Spa Hotels, made up of the 26 spa hotels across Europe formerly part of Danubius Hotel Group.

The launch will mark the first hotel from the new brand to launch on UK soil and will bid to put the town of Buxton back on the map both on a national and international scale.

Ensana Health Spa Hotels specialises in ‘using natural healing resources like spring waters to enhance the health of guests’ and it is thought the new Buxton Crescent Hotel will be home to 80 bedrooms and a thermal natural mineral water spa in the natural baths.

Ensana hotels currently generates over €100 million revenue annually across its 26 hotels.

Speaking to Buxton Advertiser, Mark Hennebry, chairman of Ensana continues: “We are continually seeking to expand and seek new opportunities for the brand. We have already invested significantly in our existing spa hotels and over the coming years, we have plans to innovate and invest in numerous ways – creating inspiring new treatments, facilities and of course, jobs.”
