Administrators appointed for firm connected to Langdon Court Hotel

Administrators have been called in for a company connected to Langdon Court Hotel in Plymouth, with bosses stressing that the wedding venue remains affected.

London-based Quantuma LLP has been appointed to take over the administration of Carlauren Lifestyle Resorts Ltd, a company headquartered in Yeovil, Somerset.

Director of the company Sean Murray is also a director of Heritage Hotels, which owns Langdon Court, but the hotel stresses that bookings are not impacted by the news.

The group’s chief operating officer Andrew Jamieson said that the administration does not include Heritage Hotels, which was acquired by Carlauren in December 2018.

He stressed that Carlauren Group is an ‘umbrella’ company which has many other firms associated with it and that not all of them will fall under the administration.

Jamieson said “about 20” weddings had been booked, valued at about £15,000, and wanted to reassure those people.

Heritage Hotels owns and is based at the Grade-II listed manor house, Langdon Court Hotel once home to Henry VIII’s wife Catherine Parr, and a popular and successful wedding venue.

It has its shares owned by Jersey-based Carlauren International Holdings Ltd.

In June 2019 Carlauren Group abandoned plans to develop a luxury hotel and a ‘Ibiza style’ beach club on the Isle of Wight, as an investigation was launched into one of the contractors on the project.

Now a notice, posted on The Gazette public record, announced the appointment of Quantuma as administrators in the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts of England and Wales, in the Insolvency and Companies List.
