Adnams appoints new general manager at The Swan as owners plough on with £6m renovation

Adnams, the Suffolk-based brewer, distiller and hotelier, has appointed Lyndon Barrett-Scott as general manager of The Swan Hotel in Southwold, Suffolk.

The news comes as the hotel is currently undergoing a complete transformation following an investment of approximately £6m to create a new hotel due to open in mid October.

Lyndon Barrett-Scott joined the Adnams team in June 2017 and brings a wealth of experience having supported the launch of a number of high-end establishments including the Covent Garden Hotel, Seaham Hall Hotel in Durham and Manchester’s King Street Townhouse.

He was also part of the team at Cotswold House, Chipping Camden.

The project to transform the 35-bedroom Swan hotel is being headed up by interior designers Project Orange, who are creating a coastal feel across the bedrooms and main building.

The hotel’s restaurant The Still Room will champion the best ingredients in Suffolk, while the more informal eating spaces, Tap Room, Tasting Room and The Lounge will serve afternoon tea and all day menus.

Lyndon Barrett-Scott, general manager of The Swan Hotel comments:

“The Swan is a fascinating building with a colourful history and has been an important focal point in Southwold for hundreds of years. It’s in a wonderful location at the heart of town and has all the right ingredients for a world-class destination. It’s great to have the opportunity to open a hotel where it is possible to provide the very best experience for guests. The fact that The Swan has such close links with brewing and distilling is also exciting, with The Swan not only offering guests a relaxing and indulgent getaway but also an immersive Adnams experience.”

Emma Hibbert, Adnams Marketing Director, comments: “We are really excited to have Lyndon at the helm of this launch as he brings great experience in managing successful hotels across the world and his dedication to fantastic customer service is second to none. This is a once in a generation project for Adnams in terms of both scale and ambition and Lyndon’s expertise will be a real asset.”

The overnight accommodation portfolio for Adnams consists of five hotels and two self catering cottages.
