Auction company switches focus and puts Cumbrian hotel venture up for sale

Greenhill Hotel

An auction company has put up its only hotel venture in Cumbria for sale, as it is unable to give it the ‘attention it needs’.

Hopes Auction Company has brought to market The Greenhill Hotel near Wigton for £950k, as the group’s primary focus turns to livestock auctioneering together with estate and land agencies that make up the core of the business.

The 12-bedroom Georgian mansion is home to a lounge bar, conservatory, dining room and library and is set in 8.745 acres.

Currently operated under management, the property’s reported turnover for 2014, 2015 and 2016 is approximately £819k, £810k & £731K; and year to date turnover figures are up by a 18% on the same period last year.

Lesley Watmough from Fleurets’ Manchester office said: “The property has healthy financial figures, which is boosted by catering for weddings, private functions and conferences.”
