Amy Windsor has been appointed general manager at Bespoke Hotels’ new venture, The Telegraph Hotel in Coventry.
Windsor joins following four years as GM at Hallmark Hotels in Birmingham, where she was responsible for three hotels.
She will take the helm of the new hotel, which is a transformation of the former offices of the Coventry Evening Telegraph, ahead of its opening in autumn 2020.
The Telegraph Hotel will comprise 88 bedrooms, meeting and conference facilities, a rooftop bar, restaurant and penthouse suites and will feature many of the original aspects of the 1950s architecture of the iconic building.
The property is being developed by Complex Development Projects (CDP) and will be operated by Bespoke Hotels.
Windsor has over 25 years of experience in the hotel industry, and prior to her time at Hallmark, she spent five years working as general manager for Columba Hotel in Inverness, which was operated by Bespoke Hotels.
She said: “The concept of the Telegraph Hotel is something completely new to the region, and I believe we will be drawing visitors from across the country to stay in somewhere so unique.
“I am so impressed with the quality of the design so far which works so well with this classic building, while retaining some of the qualities of the history of the printing press in Coventry.”
The hotel will begin recruiting for the initial roles including the sales team and heads of department later this year.
Graham Marskell, managing director of Bespoke Hotels, said: “The Telegraph Hotel a major and very exciting project and comes at a time when Coventry will be the focus of national attention as UK City of Culture 2021, and we are delighted to welcome back Amy to help drive it forward.”
