Bespoke Hotels has announced the appointment of a new general manager at the Talbot Inn in Ripley, ahead of the hotel’s re-launch this summer.

Richard Hartley has been brought on board to oversee the ‘revitalisation’ of the historic property, following a £1m upgrade programme.

He joins with a significant amount of experience in the hospitality industry, including six years as general manager of the Lugger Hotel, Portloe, also under the Bespoke Hotels umbrella, and stints at Royal Kings Arms Hotel in Lancaster and the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool.

He says: “I am delighted to be joining The Talbot at such a crucial stage for the business. The opportunity to revitalise a property with such incredible history is an exciting one, and I am looking forward to re-establishing the Talbot’s reputation as a key regional wedding venue.”

The £1m refurbishment plan for the Talbot Inn wills see soft enhancements to the bedrooms and suites, alongside the restaurant and bar areas and wedding facilities.

Cochrane Design has been appointed to oversee the interiors.

“Significant enhancements are already underway on site”, added Graham Marskell, managing director of operations for Bespoke Hotels. “We are making substantial improvements to the property’s public spaces and the wedding facilities in the old stables, as well as landscaping of the grounds and giving all bedrooms a significant makeover.”
