In January, it was revealed that hospitality industry entrepreneurs Simon Rhatigan and Simon Kershaw, had acquired a hotel in Scarborough to launch as the first in their new brand, Bike and Boot.

Rhatigan, former managing director at Devonshire Hotels and Restaurant until 2016, and Kershaw, ex-chairman of the northern region of the British Hospitality Association, had purchased the 50-bed The Mount Hotel in Scarborough, to kickstart the brand.

They are currently in the midst of a complete renovation at five of the terraced buildings at 1 to 5 Cliff Bridge Terrace, bringing the total number of bedrooms at the hotel to 60.

The pub and restaurant are open to the public, but the rooms will launch early next year, as well as a bike store, boot store and small cinema.

Bike & Boot founders, Simon Rhatigan and Simon Kershaw, said: “We are very excited to be launching this new hotel concept and feel this beautiful site in Scarborough is the ideal location to get started. Our hope is that Bike and Boot will offer a unique escape for not only tourists but also for locals who might wish to visit the restaurant or cinema.”
