The Lake District is to get a new hotel this summer, when ‘bistro with beds’ The Yan at Broadrayne opens under new family ownership.
The 17th century former farm near Grasmere will comprise seven bedrooms, a bistro and open-plan lounge area, following an investment of over half a million pounds from owners, David and Sally Keighley, who bought Broadrayne Farm in 2012.
Moving to the area from Yorkshire, the pair have worked to grow the Broadrayne Farm business, upgrading and expanding the site’s offering, whilst improving guest service.
The Yan will be run by the couple’s daughter, Jess Manley and her husband Will, with Jess as operations director and Will as executive chef.
Both Jess and Will have comprehensive international hospitality experience, with positions across Australia, Asia and Europe.
Will has also worked as a sous chef at Homeground Café in Windermere and Michelin-starred restaurant Forest Side.
The Yan has been named after the Cumbrian work for the number ‘one’, and the open-plan bistro and lounge, serving seasonal, hearty dishes will be focal point for the business.
The new hotel will be the latest addition to the Broadrayne Farm site, which is already home to Grasmere Glamping and Broadrayne Farm Holiday Cottages.
