Blakes Hotel appoints new general manager from Chiltern Firehouse

London boutique, Blakes Hotel, has announced the appointment of Ian Telford as general manager, who joins from his role at Andre Balazs’ iconic property Chiltern Firehouse.

Telford will now oversee all operations at the South Kensington hotel, including the recently relaunched restaurant and upcoming bar opening.

Bringing over 30 years of experience in the travel and hospitality industry to the role, Telford has received various accolades along the way, and gained invaluable experience during his time at Morgans hotels group, playing pivotal roles at Sanderson and St Martins Lane Hotel, leading to the global position of director of guest experience for the whole group.

His most recent achievements include being part of the opening team for Chiltern Firehouse, where he played a key part in developing new strategies for the hugely-successful boutique.

In his earlier career, Telford built a strong operational background in the food and beverage sectors across the UK, which later led him to make the decision to establish his position in the luxury hospitality sector in some of the top London properties.

As general manager, he will also work to maintain the individual style of all 45 bedrooms at the property, while overseeing the eponymous restaurant and bar.
